Welcome to the official help thread for the mainpage profile settings.


I'm going to break this down to a few general categories.


User Info:
Email Does anyone really need this explained?

Password Change *See Email*

Site Performance:
Automatically add files to my ed2k client This must be selected if you want the site to send the links to your client.

Time And Date Functions Select your timezone via dropdown, check/uncheck daylight savings. Date format abbreviations as follow Y=Year m=Month d=Day H=Hour i=Minutes with leading 0s (00-59). For a more detailed explanation and more options please check HERE.

Language Selections
This currently only filters latest updates see HERE for further explanation.
Dub Languages Select up to three dub languages to filter results. When a dub is selected without any subs selected, AND Limit Subs is NOT selected the filters will revert to original behavior: all seasons with either dub or sub in your selected language. When subs are are limited to language(s) of choice, TVU will show only seasons with the selected dub language(s) and the selected sub language(s). Seasons with selected sub language without a selected dub language WILL NOT be displayed. Dual-Language Seasons will only list if you have selected that specific dual-language as one of your selections. When one is filled the others cannot be absent! (Repeats are allowed)

Sub Languages Select up to three sub languages to filter results. All three must be filled in order to function properly When one is filled the others cannot be absent! (Repeats are allowed)

Limit Subs To Selected This must be selected in order for the three Sub filters to work. With all three sub selections set to absent and this activated all subs will be hidden. (You Must Have At Least 1 Dub Selected For This To Work)

*Further language and subtitle filter improvement or changes are not planned for the near future.

Custom Link Formats:
ARE NO LONGER USED.**

Link Format Templates: You must click "Save Settings" for these to work and for sample link to preview.
TVU Default: Show.Name.2x13-14.Episode.Name.(Part.1).FR.-.sub.FR+JP.HDTV.PROPER-RiPPER.[tvu.org.ru].avi

TVU Modified:Show_Name_2x13-14_Episode_Name_(Part_1)_FR_-_sub_FR+JP_HDTV.PROPER-RiPPER_[tvu.org.ru].avi

Localized Names:
Used to be called "Foreign Names" With this selected on seasons with a Localized name will output that name rather then the show's default name.

Show, The:
With this selected shows will link out named as "The Show" rather then "Show,The".

wow, round of applause for coding this so people can select the way the want to view their filenames. Ask and yee shall receive it seems to be.

YEahhhhhh Scene style is gettin pretty close to my prefrence now... and that's cool!!!!

I have selected 3 times “English” in the profile settings as suggested by the updated help, but I still get also non English shows in the alphabetical pages and non English dubs if I select a specific show.

That's to show people other versions are out there. The point of the filters is mainly for updates (and the browse by added date when implemented)

There were problems of people double submitting shows because the filters hid the already existing show that didn't have a qualifying season based on their filter config. So that's why on #-Z shows list regardless. smile.gif

Now as for Show Pages......Many people somehow get their settings wrong so as a precaution we decided to list the other dubs and such in the season.php (Show Overview). Since doing this the (false) reports of "rogue" episodes in the database have reduced significantly. By "rogue" episodes I mean episodes users could not see due to various filter setting errors....so when they tried to submit them they get the "Error Link Already In Database" bit.


We do realize this is kind of a pain but so is dealing with people that can't figure out how to set them properly and the error reports that follow. wink.gif

Hopefully someday we'll come up with a reasonable compromise. ....but for now it's Working As Intended
