Anime Guide
Naming
-Anime should always be named to the original Romanji (English Letters) titles. When in doubt name the same as
AniDB Main Title.
IMDb #
-When searching IMDb for anime IMDb #, double vowels are typed with ^ on IMDB (i.e. uu = û)
-Also search for the alternative names or English name (if any) if you are having trouble locating an IMDb page.
AniDB #
-Find this number (located in the URL from the
AniDB show page) and insert it. Currently it has no effect but eventually it will work much like the IMDb mod, by retrieving info from
AniDB.
EXAMPLE
Alternative Image URL
-
AniDB is usually the best place to find these. Resize to no larger than 250x250, upload to pic.leech.it and use the resulting link.
Genres
-Be sure to get genres from IMDb,
AniDB as well as other anime info sites for greater accuracy. IMDb genres are lacking when it comes to anime, and
AniDB is overdoing it. Apply every TVU genre that applies.
Descriptions
-For anime descriptions Wikipedia is usually the best place to leech from. When using a description from Wikipedia, please remember to remove any markings for citations (numbers in brackets like [1], [2], etc) and the questionmark (?) in the anime title written in Japanese.
-Another good source of information and descriptions is
animeNFO
Groupings
-Certain anime can be moved into a grouping and seasons moved into new "Shows" in order to be more accurate. In this case be sure to rename the seasons to remove redundancies in Season Names.
EXAMPLE 1 EXAMPLE 2
Seasons
-Hide season # for most anime seasons (i.e. if there is a season 2 it will most likely have a name, e.g.
HERE. Only occasionally will it be necessary to show season numbers on anime.
Episodes
-Japanese dubs must never be tagged as DVB EPISODE TYPE (but source is fine) - DVB is allowed (but discouraged) for Episode Type on other dubs.
-
AniDB uses DTV as an Episode Type. We at TVU do not recognize DTV as a valid episode type. So the episode type on DTV will be HDTV (depending on resolution SEE Episode Type Guide) or blank.
-Finding resolution and file stats can be easily found on
AniDB if you have a registered account.
AniDB however is not very accurate on their episode types, so don’t rely on those, just the actual file stats. (Can be found by clicking into the actual file page.)
-Be sure to replace characters such as ` with ' (because
AniDB uses ` instead of ' this character difference is more common in anime links).
Getting File Information From AniDB
-First, locate a show. Then, Click the + button by a Group name to expand all episodes by that group. Or click the + button by an episode number to expanded all files within that episode. To get more specific details click the "Show File Details" icon to the left of group names.
Notes:
- v2 = REPACK (there may be a v3 or v4 in rare cases)
- you can also mouse-over the small icons (as shown on the picture below) to get the container format, as well as the video codec (audio and sub format though are only available in the "show file details").
Group Specific Rules
-HorribleSubs = WEBRip ALWAYS
-If you are in doubt go to the official website of the group.
AniDB will have this info in the specific group pages. The Official websites of the sub groups are available by clicking the group name in
AniDB:
Stand-Up Comedy
1. Seasons will be named: Stand-Up Specials, HBO Specials, Live or Others.
2. ALL season numbers will be hidden.
3. "Others" seasons will be the only seasons with the season number as 0.
4. "Stand-Up Specials", "HBO Specials", and "Live" seasons will be numbered as 1.
5. IMDb # should be from the comedians FIRST stand-up special.
6. Descriptions should be pulled from wiki or other such Bio-Pages and if possible include some career and comedic style info. Also include birth date and death date if applicable. See current Comedian descriptions for a general idea of standard.
7. Pics should be Alt Pics and if possible always use a Promo Pic of the comedians face rather then a DVD cover or screen shot.
