Better season foreign name handling

Posted by earlyworm on 26 December 2010 - 05:21 PM

I submitted a few new seasons and noticed that their foreign names are not displayed nor used to title the eD2K links. For example "Taiyou No Ko Esteban" is known as "Les Mystérieuses Cités d'or" (LMCO) in French. Searching for it matches the show page and the result is titled "Taiyou No Ko Esteban/Les Mystérieuses Cités D'Or". But once on the page the French title is nowhere to be found . Also the season ripped by BlueSphere Anime was released as "Les Mystérieuses Cités d'Or - 01 - Esteban, le fils du soleil - [BlueSphere Anime].avi" but the video I submitted was renamed as "Taiyou No Ko Esteban - 01 - Esteban, Fils Du Soleil.avi". The issue is that people won't find it on the networks and users have already renamed it as "Les.Mystérieuses.Cités.D'Or.01.Esteban,.Fils.Du.Soleil.FR-BlueSphere.Anime.[tvu.org.ru].avi". It's specially understandable for LMCO because it's a Japanese-French production. So I think the e2DK should be named after the foreign name and the information should also be displayed on the show pages. Other examples :
  • "Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors" was released as "Jayce et les Conquérants de la Lumière"
  • "Hokuto no Ken" as "Ken le survivant"
  • "Saint Seiya" as "Les Chevaliers du Zodiaque"

For pure animes I tend to both include the Japanese and French titles in my filenames. For example I renamed Hokuto no Ken's first video as "Ken le survivant (Hokuto no Ken) - 001 - Ken l'héritier de la Grande Ourse (FR DVDRip XviD-$Death-Team$) [tvu.org.ru].avi". The same for Saint Seiya : "Les Chevaliers du Zodiaque (Saint Seiya) - 001 - Revivez ! Les Héros Légendaires (FR+JP sous-titres FR DVDRip-Zero-Absolu) [tvu.org.ru].mkv". It's even more useful considering it has a dual audio track, French and Japanese.

I'm not asking for TVU to become multilingual but I think improving the way foreign names are handled would definitely appeal other users and help spread the videos . The search engine supports them nicely after all ;)
